The bake-off itself was held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Christchurch 26-28th August 2008, at the Baking Industry Association of New Zealands Annual conference. Representation from the industry at the conference was pleasing as was the interest to the trainee competition.

New Zealands top 10 trainees demonstrated their skills and baking knowlege in the live bake-off where they had to produce four products; a deposited bread loaf, 3 fruit pies with a lattus finish, one finished baked product using a Weston Milling XL product and a cake decorated in the Weston Milling theme. There were pleasing results, and all contestants showed true baking talent.

Congratulations to all the trainess that took part at the Bake-off. There was a huge amount of talent shown and tremendous support was recieved from the industry.

So why would you send your apprentice to enter into this competition? This is HUGE! The bakery from whom this special individual is found will be receiving a unique plaque to display in store, will have tremendous amounts of public and industry awareness and will gain invaluable experience to pass on to their bakery/business.
