Policies and Procedures

Weston Milling is committed to improving its business practices through means such as food safety, health and safety and customer services initiatives.

Quality Assurance

Weston Milling aims to achieve and maintain high quality products. Wheat is sourced from the South Island of New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Wheat testing begins when the crop is planted. The soils and health of the crop is tested throughout the growth season in order to ensure an optimal harvest.

Further testing is carried out through our quality control programme. The grain is tested when it arrives on site, during the milling process and just prior to releasing the product for delivery.

Business Excellence

At Weston Milling, it is important that we are operating at optimum capacity. We use a number of International Standards in order to monitor our performance in the work place. This includes programmes such as the ACC Partnership plan which is designed to monitor the Health and Safety programme on each site. It is our goal to use these tools effectively to assist us in becoming a top performing company.

Weston Milling also has many other policies in place which outline our commitment to our staff and customers. These policies are also aligned to meet our statutory requirements and employee obligations. Some of these policies include the following elements: health and safety, food safety, environmental policy.

Health & Safety

As an organisation, we take our commitment to a safe workplace seriously and we expect our staff to do the same. It is the responsibility of every employee to manage health and safety in a combined effort in order to keep all employees free from harm. Some of our strategies to manage health and safety include training and developing hazard management systems.

Food Safety

At Weston Milling, we are committed to meeting the changing requirements of the regulatory authorities as well as our customers. We have therefore developed a Food Safety Programme based on the principles of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) which enables us to supply product to our customers which meets a certain safety standard.

As part of our training programme, all staff are trained and given resources to ensure that our Food Safety Programme is fully understood and maintained to the highest level possible. We are also involved in internal audits and site inspections in order to ensure that our systems are running effectively.

Environmental Policy

Weston Milling is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business while, at the same time, continuing to provide high quality products and services that meet the needs of our consumers. At present, this is being achieved through complying with all applicable environmental laws, standards and regulations.
